Sponsorship Wish List
We are always looking for generous donors and sponsors to help with our growth and development. Below is a wish list of just some of the items we are currently looking for assistance with. If you would like to help with an item on our wish list by either making a cash donation, or providing products or services, or would like to discuss a sponsorship arrangement please contact -
Mr Trevarr McCarthy, TIC for Cricket, at tmc@camhigh.school.nz, or phone the school on (07) 827 5417.
We would love to have you as part of our team.
Indoor Training Net Facilities $500,000
We are in the process of raising funds for our biggest project ever for cricket at Cambridge High School. We are wanting to build two indoor training nets for use by our school cricket teams (including our Adaptive Cricket team), other cricketing teams in the Cambridge area both in junior and senior cricket, as well as the wider community across the Waikato Region. With the ability to remove the nets this building will be able to be used by the community as well as schools in the area for a multitude of activities.
We are now in the fund raising stage and are looking for businesses and trades people who would like to contribute toward this community project.. If you would like to discuss the provision of funds, or, community spirited donations of goods and services or labour toward this build, please contact either our TIC for Cricket Mr Trevarr McCarthy, our Sports Co-ordinator Mr Tony Broadbent or our Principal Mr Phil McCreery to arrange a meeting.
Replacement and Realignment of our No.1 Cricket Pitch $12,000
This project has now been completed
Our No.1 cricket pitch is in need of replacement. It has developed a number of small cracks in the concrete as well as a large crack across the entire width of the pitch directly in front of the batting crease at one end.
Replacement of our No.2 Cricket Pitch $12,000
With the recent work done replacing and repositioning our No.1 pitch, we are now looking to update our No.2 pitch and realign it too to reduce the amount of overlap between our two pitches.
Repairs to our Outdoor Training Nets $ 10,000
The repairs and upgrade of our Outdoor Training Nets has now been completed with the help for part of the funding from the NZ Cricket Foundation
The matting on the bowlers run ups has also been replaced but we will still need to find funding to replace the matting in the nets themselves sometime in the next year or two and add gates to the front of the nets to help protect the matting and netting from misuse and damage
Our outdoor training nets have been well used over the last few years and as a result they are now in desperate need of some repair and replacement maintenance to ensure they are able to service our training needs for another few years to come. We are needing to replace the matting on the bowlers run ups, as well replace the roofing wire and extend the roof to provide more protection for our neighbours, and provide added height for our spinners to learn the art of loop and flight without hitting the roof.
Purchase of a high quality Bowling Machine $ 5,000 - $10,000
Thanks to a number of generous donations from the general public and Cambridge Rotary, and a grant from the school, we have now been able to purchase a brand new Cric Attack bowling machine - this is a new type of bowling machine being marketed by Gray Nichols
A bowling machine would offer us the opportunity to help develop our players batting abilities by being able to provide them with consistent line, length and bounce without tiring our bowlers out. We would be able to get through a larger number of deliveries within a short compact space of time helping to build up muscle memory and skill.
With the ability of our new bowling machine to use bowling machine balls as well as real cricket balls we are looking to purchase a set of real cricket balls that would be specifically for use with the bowling machine only.
Purchase of Game Balls $ 3,000
One of our biggest ongoing costs each year is the purchase of game balls for every team. We currently have five teams playing and game balls cost us about $3,000 per year for five teams.
Purchase of White Picket Fencing $ 1,200
This has now been built and awaiting painting by our players before it can begin to be used
We intend to improve the over all appeal and image of our No.1 cricket ground during games. The replacement of the No.1 cricket pitch is one part of that aim, another is the erection of white picket fencing in front of our "pavilion area" (two classrooms adjoining the No.1 field). We feel this will help raise the image of our fields, and raise the level of pride our players feel for when they play at home. Nothing gives a professional feel to a cricket ground more than a good white picket fence on the boundary.
Purchase of Open Wicket Practice Nets $ 600
We have been able to purchase one of our Open Wicket Pratice Nets and are looking forward to purchasing our other one as funds allow
With three teams training on the same night and only one set of outdoor training nets, open wicket training sessions are an important part of our training program. With the purchase of two open wicket training nets we can effectively have three teams all working on batting and bowling at the same time independently of each other with minimal impact on the other two teams from stray balls.
Purchase of New Team Shirts for All Teams $ 600 (approximate cost per team)
We are currently in discussions with a sponsor for playing shirts for each team but if you or someone you know is in a position to provide sponsorship for travelling uniforms please let us know
Our team shirts are starting to look aged and we would like to have all our teams in fresh new shirts. There is the option of discussing naming rights for team shirts in addition to the supply of the new shirts. If this is something you would like to discuss please contact our TIC for cricket.
Purchase of three "Katchet" Ramps $ 300
We have now been able to purchase two of these but would still like to have atleast one more to help with our training and develoment program
The purchase of three Katchet ramps will allow the flexibility of having three separate teams doing slip catching training at the same time, or three groups within the same team doing the same.
Purchase of Large Garden Trolley $ 300
The purchase of a large wheeled garden trolley will enable easy and quick transport of all the necessary equipment for training from our storage shed to the outdoor training nets, and the No.2 cricket pitch. At present our players are having to carry all this equipment themselves which can take several minutes at times. Several minutes we lose both at the start and at the end of each training, meaning less overall actual training time.
Purchase of Coaching and Training Equipment $ 4250 (approximate cost)
We aim to ensure our coaching staff have as much as possible in the way of training and coaching equipment available to them. However we would love to add the following items to our equipment resources, so if you can help with any of these items please let us know.
* 2 Crazy Catches for catching development work $ 400 (approximate cost)
* 2 Coaches catching/fielding bats for fielding and catching work $ 300 (approximate cost)
* 2 Sets of Sequencing Discs to assist with target bowling development $ 200 (approximate cost)
* 2 Sets of 12 Baseball Catching mits for throwing development drill work $ 2500 (approximate cost)
* 4 Flexible Fusion Target Stumps for fielding work drills $ 250 (approximate cost)
We have recently purchased one target stump but are still looking for another 3
* 2 Technique Bats (half-width) to assist in batting technique drill work $ 300 (approximate cost)
* 4 Leather Bowling Discs for bowling technique work $ 100 (approximate cost)
* 3 Side Arm Pro thrower tools for assistance with batting technique drills $ 200 (approximate cost)
Purchase of Game Gear $ 4250 (approximate cost)
We recently purchased 3 team chilly bins but are still in need of another 2
Our needs here include replacement stumps, 2 sets of coloured stumps for all home games, 4 portable scoreboards, team drink bottles and drinks carriers, updating our 5 team gear bags, 5 team chilly bins and a small portable gazebo for each team to provide much needed shelter from the sun for our hard working scorers and supporters.
Team and Player Gear
We have had a number of members of the public over the years donate their old cricket gear to the school for use by our students. We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has kindly donated their gear to us.
We do however have an ongoing need to replace gear as it becomes broken or simply reached the end of it's life, and although we are able to purchase new gear at times to replace these items we do still have a need for more gear.
So if you have any old cricket gear, be it playing gear, clothing, practice gear (including old balls), or anything you think we may be able to use, rather than throw it out, please consider donating it to our cricket program.
Please help us support some of our existing sponsors and supporters
Cambridge Tree Trust
We would like to thank the Cambridge Tree Trust for their generous donation of an oak tree to the school to celebrate Waikato's first competitive disability cricket game between our own Cambridge Acorns and a team from Hamilton, and our place in history as the winners of that game.
Please support these
amazing people.

Cambridge Rotary
Anonymous Donators
We have been very privileged to have a number of anonymous members of the public donate equipment, books and a scoreboard to the school for the use of our cricket players.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank you all and let you know how appreciative
we are of all your generous
contributions.
