Trainings

Our Motto:  "Play like you're number two but train like you're number one."

Trainings and Trials for the 1st XI & Colts start in January so please check our Calendar page for exact dates.
Premiers

Our Year 9 and Year 10 Premier teams normally train on a Wednesday night from 3:15pm to 5:15pm.

We are currently fielding one combined Premier team in the Year 10 competition.

Colts

Our Colts team is the best of our Year 9 and 10 players.  As potential future 1st XI players for the school our Colts team trains twice a week on the same days as our 1st team.

Some training sessions will be classroom based.

Trainings are every Tuesday and Thursday from 3:15pm to 5:15pm.

1st XI

As senior players in the school we expect our 1st XI team to train twice a week.

Some training sessions will be classroom based.

Trainings are every Tuesday and Thursday from 3:15pm to 5:15pm.

Acorns

The Cambridge Acorns is our disability cricket team.

Due to the minimal number of games they currently play each year this team does their training during their PE class in the lead up to any game coming up.

Girls

Currently we do not have enough girls playing cricket to field an all girls team but, we have had a number of girls over recent years go on to represent both Waikato Valley Cricket and Northern Districts Cricket, as well as one past player who has recently represented New Zealand.

We are always looking for more girls to play cricket, so if you are keen let us know.

NZCT Cup

The NZCT Cup competition is not part of our regular season competitions.

The members of this team are a combination of players from all our junior teams, so this team do not have regularly scheduled training sessions.

They do, however, have team training sessions from time to time as required ahead of any NZCT Cup competition game.

Our Training Rules

At Cambridge High School we strive to provide an environment where cricket players can have the opportunity to learn and develop their skills but we are also aware of the need to provide a fun environment for the players to enjoy themselves.  However, for safety, and developmental reasons, we do have some rules we expect our players to follow during all trainings.

Unless told otherwise all trainings will ALWAYS be on, even when it is raining, as we have access to one of the school gyms or a classroom to take trainings.

ALL players are expected to attend ALL trainings on time and be ready to start as soon as the coach is ready to begin, unless prior permission has been granted by either the TIC or the team coach. Failure to attend trainings will affect a player's selection.

ALL players not in the 1st XI team MUST wear a helmet when batting at training.  1st XI players may use their discretion but are advised to wear one.  ALL players practicing wicket keeping in the nets must wear a helmet.  ALL players MUST wear all other normal protective equipment during trainings.

NO player is to do anything in the practice nets while waiting for training to start.

ALL players are to follow the instructions of the coach, or person, taking the training session and show them respect.

ALL players are expected to follow the school rules around behaviour and language while at trainings.

ALL players are expected to help collect and set up all training equipment at the start of training, and the putting away of all equipment at the end of training prior to going home.  All training and team equipment is to be kept neat and tidy with ALL players being responsible for looking after it.
